LeSS (LargeScale Scrum) is the simple high impact framework for scaling lean and agile development designed to optimize the whole system.

Traditional sequential-lifecycle development doesn’t work well. It doesn’t work well for either small or large product development efforts. Since 2001, Agile development and Scrum in particular have revolutionized software development, but when asked how to apply Agile development to large groups many people say “don’t” or “just use a small team” or “do Scrum at the team level.” None of those answers is particularly useful, and while it is true that it is best to avoid adding people to your development effort, it is also true that large scale product development isn’t going away so we need to discover ways to do it well

We all have been involved in software development for a long time in all sorts of roles in traditional sequential-lifecycle development, Unified Process, CMMi and others. None felt right. Scrum, on the other hand, felt right for single-team development. So, the question then became “How can we scale Scrum without losing its strength?”

In this 3-day highly-participative course, participants get a thorough introduction to LeSS. And people are introduced to — and practice — Systems Thinking with Causal Loop Modeling. There will also be an in-depth clinic with Jurgen De Smet, Certified LeSS trainer, Licensed Management 3.0 Trainer, Qualified Innovation Games Trainer, based on his long experience with Large-Scale Scrum adoptions.

In addition to course material, each participant will also receive 3 books on LeSS:

In-Depth Special Topics: A Deep-Dive Q&A Clinic
Although there are some constants in a LeSS adoption, there are many variations, due to myriad contexts. And there are many special-topic questions that participants have, usually variations of “When scaling Scrum, how do we…?” These questions range from “contracts to career path.” Therefore, a significant period of time at the end of this course is dedicated to a structured Q&A session that works through a group-prioritized list of burning issues and questions. Jurgen De Smet, drawing on his many years of experience of actual LeSS adoptions, will dialog and explore solutions with the group.

After course completion...

All participants will be a Certified LeSS Practioner and will get an account on less.works. Here they can find additional information about LeSS, share course information and stay in contact with the other course participants.

Attendees can get the CLP (Certified LeSS Practioner) and can opt-in for Innovation Games - Certified Collaboration Architect credits.

The Trainer
Being busy with change since 2001 in different jungles, having met with over a 100 of different species, we could call Jurgen De Smet a chameleon with a huge backpack of knowledge, technique’s and frameworks to support other lions out there to do just enough of the right thing at the right time and be respected for it.

In the backpack are tools and techniques out of beyond budgeting, systems thinking, lean, kanban, agile and scrum as well as notices from other less favorable frameworks like Prince2, PMBoK, ITIL, CORBA, ISO… All of this allows this chameleon to effectively support senior and middle management on how to run an effective organization; as well as training people to become part of a learning organization.
